Sanctuary Cottage

Sanctuary Cottage is just outside Aberdaron village. It's detached, so you've got your own space. The garden is enclosed and there's a patio with a BBQ.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which helps. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well equipped and comfortable. The entrance and downstairs are wheelchair accessible. The stairs inside are a standard cottage staircase, not a spiral or anything.

You can walk to a cafe in about five minutes. The village itself, Aberdaron, is a bit further. It's a proper fishing village with a couple of pubs, cafes, and a shop. It's a nice walk if you don't mind the distance, or a very short drive.

The beach here, Porthor, is known as Whistling Sands. It's less than a mile down the road. The sand makes a noise when you walk on it sometimes. It's a good beach, often quiet. You might see seals or dolphins from the headlands.

For a busier feel, Abersoch is about fifteen minutes by car. It's got more shops and water sports. Porthmadog is about half an hour away. That's where you can get the Welsh Highland Railway steam train. The castles at Criccieth and Harlech are also within a thirty minute drive.

The cottage has a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. WiFi and TV are there. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking on site.

For planning walks or days out, the National Trust Wales page is useful, and the Llyn Peninsula site has local information.
