Afonig Loyw

Afonig Loyw is in Tal y bont, which is near Harlech. It’s a detached bungalow, so no stairs to worry about. You sleep four, in two bedrooms. Both beds are super king-size. One has an ensuite bathroom with a roll-top bath, the other uses the main shower room. There are two bathrooms in total.

It’s got a 5 Star rating. That means it’s well-finished and comfortable. The living space is open plan, with a woodburning stove and doors out to a deck. The view from the deck is over fields. It’s a quiet spot.

You can walk to the beach from here. Tal y bont itself has a couple of places to eat and a shop. Harlech is about two miles away. The castle is there, which is worth a visit. Harlech Castle.

Barmouth is a ten-minute drive down the coast. It’s a traditional seaside town with a promenade, shops, and the long wooden railway bridge you can walk across. The Snowdonia National Park starts just inland. For walking, you’re right on the Wales Coast Path.

Facilities: there’s parking for two cars, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and all bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed, but it’s not totally secure for a determined escape artist, so you’d need to keep an eye on them.

A few other things within half an hour: Portmeirion village is about 25 minutes north. The Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog. For mountains, you can drive into the heart of Snowdonia quite easily from here.
