Gamekeepers Lodge

Gamekeepers Lodge is one of ours. It's a single storey, detached cottage, and it's new. My husband built it. It sleeps two, with one bedroom and one bathroom. It's 4 Star graded, which means it's comfortable and well finished. We allow one dog.

It sits on a hillside. The view from the patio is across the Lake of Menteith towards the Trossachs hills. You can see Inchmahome Priory on the island in the lake. It's private.

The main room is open plan. It's built with a lot of wood, so it feels like a warm cabin. The kitchen is handmade. There's a woodburning stove. The bed is a king size four-poster. The shower room is a wet room style, fully tiled.

You're right on the edge of the hills here. You can walk straight from the door up into the Menteith Hills and join the Rob Roy Way. There's a lot of wildlife around, like red squirrels and deer. The Lake of Menteith is known for trout fishing if that's your thing.

The Lake Hotel is down by the water, a few minutes' drive, and they do food. Nick Nairn's Cook School is nearby too.

You're in a good spot for getting out. You can be in Aberfoyle or Callander in about ten minutes. Loch Katrine, where you can get a trip on the steamship, is ten minutes away. Stirling, with the castle, is about twenty minutes. Loch Lomond is half an hour's drive. Glasgow is under an hour.

For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and an enclosed garden with a gas barbecue. Bedding and towels are included.

Useful links if you're planning: Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, and National Trust for Scotland at Loch Katrine.
