Gamekeepers Lodge is one of our cottages at Mondhui, near Port of Menteith. It's a one-bedroom place for two people. It's detached and sits by itself on the hillside. The main thing is the view. It looks right out over the Lake of Menteith towards the Trossachs hills. You can sit outside and just watch the water.
It's built from wood, so it feels a bit like a cabin inside. We made the kitchen ourselves. It's got everything you'd need: a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer. The bed is a king-size four-poster. The shower room is more like a wet room, all tiled. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You're right in the countryside here. The Rob Roy Way starts nearby if you want to walk. There's a small pond beside the cottage and a bigger one on the land which attracts birds. You might see red squirrels or deer. The Lake of Menteith is famous for trout fishing if that's your thing.
There's a pub that does food at the Lake Hotel, a few minutes down the road. Nick Nairn's Cook School is close by too. In the other direction, Aberfoyle and Callander are about ten minutes by car. You can get to Loch Katrine for a trip on the steamship in that sort of time as well.
Stirling, with the castle, is twenty minutes away. Loch Lomond is about half an hour's drive. Glasgow is under an hour. The place is all on one level, so there are no steps inside, and there's parking right outside.
One well-behaved dog is welcome. We provide all the bedding and towels.
