Carsaig is our place on Loch Venachar, near Brig o'Turk. It's detached, sits in three acres of land, and you have your own private bit of shore with a jetty. The view is across the loch to the hills. That's the main thing.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which just means it's well equipped and comfortable. The grounds slope down to the water, so the walk back up is a gentle gradient.
There's a wood burning stove inside and another fire pit outside. The hot tub is on the deck. We've put in a charging point for electric cars. You can use the jetty for your own canoe or paddleboard if you bring one. The water is cold, just so you know.
The Venacher Lochside restaurant is right next door. They do good food. There's a pub about two miles away in Brig o'Turk. The nearest shop for a big grocery run is in Callander, which is a five minute drive. Callander has cafes, a few shops, and that's about it.
You're in the Trossachs National Park. For walking, Ben A'an is a steep but popular climb with a great payoff view. Ben Ledi is bigger. The Queen Elizabeth Forest Park has miles of trails. Cyclists use the Dukes Pass road. Walkhighlands is a useful site for route ideas.
If you need activities, Go Ape at Aberfoyle is about fifteen minutes by car. Stirling Castle is half an hour's drive. Glasgow and Edinburgh are both about an hour.
What's here: all the bedding and towels, dishwasher, washing machine, highchair and cot if you need them. WiFi works. You can bring two dogs. There's plenty of parking.
