Craigmuick Cottage

Craigmuick Cottage is just outside Aberfoyle, in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. It's in the middle of the woods, up a forestry track. You'll need to drive carefully on that track, it's got potholes. The location means there's no mobile signal, but you can call people over the wifi.

It's a big place. Sleeps ten, five bedrooms, four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been renovated, but it's an old cottage from the 1800s. It used to belong to a Scottish poet called William Glen.

Downstairs, there's a large open plan living area with a wood burner. The kitchen has a range cooker. There's a separate utility room for coats and boots, and a TV room with games. One double bedroom is on the ground floor with its own shower room.

Upstairs, there are four more bedrooms. Two have en-suites, and there's a large family bathroom. The garden is enclosed, over an acre, with a patio. The River Duchray runs along the side. You'll see red squirrels and deer about.

Aberfoyle is two miles away for shops, a butcher, and places to eat. You're right in the forest for walking or biking from the door. The Trossachs National Park is all around. Loch Lomond is about half an hour's drive. Stirling, with the castle, is 25 minutes away.

For facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, a cot and highchair. You can bring one dog. There's parking right at the cottage.
