Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage is in Grassington, right up near the main square. It's one of the old stone cottages you see around there.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, but it is an old cottage. The staircase is narrow and steep. It's behind a door in the living room.

You've got a small enclosed garden out the back. There's a fireplace in the living room that you can use. The kitchen is what you'd call a country kitchen, it's not huge but it's fine for holiday meals.

You're basically in the middle of the village. The pub is a two-minute walk. The shops and cafes on the square are just up the road. Grassington has events through the year, like the Festival in the summer and the Dickensian weekend before Christmas.

For walking, you can start right from the door. The river is down the lane and you can get onto the Dales from there. The Yorkshire Dales National Park site is good for route ideas.

Skipton is about a 20-minute drive. It's a proper market town with a castle and the canal. You can get boat trips there.

In the cottage you've got a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on the street outside. No pets, I'm afraid.

If you're looking at the history around here, English Heritage has a list of sites.
