Clematis Cottage

Clematis Cottage is in Burnsall, right in the Yorkshire Dales. It's a stone cottage, double fronted. It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower over the bath.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well looked after. The living room has a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. There's a small patio garden out the back.

The village is small and quiet, centred around a green that leads down to the River Wharfe. It's good for a picnic or a paddle. The local pub is about a minute's walk away. It's an old building, does decent food and beer. There's also a well-regarded restaurant just a bit further on.

It's walking country. You can do the hills or just amble by the river. You can get a bus to Grassington and walk back along the riverside path. The Yorkshire Dales National Park website is good for route ideas. For cyclists, the roads and trails around here are serious business, it's Tour de France territory.

Grassington is about three miles away. It's a proper Dales village with shops and cafes. They have a summer arts festival and a Dickensian festival in winter. Skipton is about ten miles, with a market, castle, and canal. Harrogate, for more shopping, is roughly half an hour by car.

Facilities: there's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. No pets, I'm afraid.

If you're planning visits, National Trust Yorkshire and English Heritage have places like Bolton Abbey and Fountains Abbey within a reasonable drive.
