Merlins Cabin

Merlins Cabin is a cedar wood lodge in Glandwr, Carmarthenshire. It's on the Penlan holiday park, but don't let that put you off. It's a family-run place in a wooded valley, so it feels quite private. The cabin itself is detached.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. The main thing is it's spacious and you've got everything you need.

The park has a swimming pool and a kids' play area. At the cabin, there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. It's a good set-up for families.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a big plastic dog bed and bowls here for them.

The location is the main draw. You're about a mile from Cenarth village. They've got a supermarket and a good pub that does food. The river Teifi runs through it with some historic waterfalls. For a bigger shop, Cardigan is about 15 minutes' drive. It's a proper town with a castle and river walks. Newcastle Emlyn is closer, about 10 minutes. It's a small market town with a good butcher, an organic shop, and a nice café by the river.

You're well placed for getting out. The roads around here are quiet and good for cycling. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is less than half an hour's drive. There are six different beaches within a 30 minute drive. You've got the Welsh Wildlife Centre nearby, and you can go dolphin watching in Cardigan Bay. There's a farm that makes its own cheese about 20 minutes away, and Llys y Fran lake if you fancy watersports.

Inside, we've tried to make it cosy for Welsh weather. There are sofa blankets, a selection of DVDs, books, and board games. All the beds have electric under blankets for cooler nights.
