Birch Lodge is ours, but it's a few hundred yards down the lane from our house. It's just you there. It looks out straight over the Caledonian Canal and you get a full view of Ben Nevis and the ski slopes from the front.
It's a one bedroom lodge, so it's for two people. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means everything works and it's clean, but it's not luxurious. You get a parking space right outside.
Inside, there's the one bedroom upstairs, and the bathroom's up there too. The stairs are a bit steep, just so you know. Downstairs is the sitting room with the kitchen at one end. There's a TV, wi-fi, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included.
You can bring up to two dogs. The Great Glen Way path is right there off the lane, which is perfect for walks. The owner's website for that is Great Glen Way.
The local shop is about three miles away in Corpach. The nearest pub and restaurant are about two miles. Fort William is a ten minute drive for bigger shops.
You're in a good spot for getting around. Glencoe is maybe 25 minutes by car. You can drive to the Glenfinnan Viaduct in about half an hour to see the steam train. Inverness is just over an hour. If you want to go to the coast, Oban is about an hour and a half. The VisitScotland Highlands page has ideas.
It's a simple place. If you want a comfortable base to come back to after being out in the hills all day, it does the job.
