Torfern is in Corpach, just outside Fort William. It's one of a pair of houses, and the other one is our holiday flat. We're not in it much, so you'll have your own space.
The house sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's a bit nicer than just the basics. The house is decorated with a Christmas theme from the end of November through December.
There's a shop and a pub a couple of minutes walk away. The pub does food.
The view from the front is towards Loch Linnhe and the Caledonian Canal. You can see the water and the mountains from the main rooms. The garden is enclosed so it's safe for kids or dogs. We take up to two pets.
It's a good spot for getting out. Ben Nevis is right there if you're walking. You can get the gondola up Aonach Mor, or the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig goes over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Fort William has the shops and cafes, it's about ten minutes by car.
You can do boat trips from here to places like Mull, Staffa or Iona. Oban is under an hour south for more boat trips and seafood. Going north, you're about an hour and a half from Fort Augustus on Loch Ness, or the same to the Skye bridge.
The house has a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, a highchair and a stairgate if you need them. There's parking on the drive.
