The Lodge
The Lodge is the old gatehouse for the manor, just outside Hinton St Mary village. It's detached, so you've got your own space. It was built around 1900. We've fixed it up but kept the bits you'd want, like the mullion windows and the fireplace. There's a wood burner in there.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one shower room, which is downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not huge. The kitchen has a worktop made from cedar trees that grew here on the estate.
You can see fields from the windows. It's quiet. The village has a pub, The White Horse, which is about a ten minute walk. They've done it up and do food. There's a 12th century church and the famous Roman mosaic find is from here.
Sturminster Newton is the nearest proper town, about five miles. They've got supermarkets, a few shops, and a weekly market. For walking, you're right in the Dorset National Landscape. The River Stour is nice for a stroll.
If you want to go further, Shaftesbury with its Gold Hill is about 20 minutes away. The Jurassic Coast is around a 40 minute drive, depending on which bit you head for.
Facilities: there's parking right outside, a dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. The main house on the estate is a working farm, so please keep dogs on leads around the buildings.
If you need more room, the Stables next door can be booked as well. Together they sleep eight.
