Home Farm Barn

It's Home Farm Barn in Pontesford, Shropshire. It's a converted barn down a track off the main road, so it's quiet. You get your own garden around it.

It's for two people. One bedroom with an en-suite shower upstairs. Downstairs is all open plan, kitchen and sitting area. It's been done up with those Farrow and Ball paints, so it's calm and light. They've given it a 4 Star rating.

The garden has a few different spots to sit, a patio bit and a wilder bit at the back. There's bike storage if you bring them.

You're right on the edge of Pontesford Hill. It's good for walks. People say the hills look like a sleeping dragon, which is a local thing. It's an old volcano and there's an Iron Age hill fort up there. The Shropshire Hills website has more on the walks.

Shrewsbury is about eight miles, maybe twenty minutes in the car. It's a proper old market town with the river and independent shops. There's a golf course nearby too, about a ten minute drive.

The pub in the village, the Horseshoes, is about a ten minute walk. It does food.

For days out, the National Trust has a few places within half an hour, like Attingham Park or Carding Mill Valley. The Stiperstones and the Long Mynd are close if you like hill walking.

Facilities are what you'd expect: TV, WiFi, parking right there, bedding and towels are included. Everything runs on electricity. It's on a working farm, so you might hear or see farm animals sometimes. No pets.
