The Earls Lodge is a pod on our farm in Habberley, right in the Shropshire Hills. It's not a cottage, it's a wooden glamping pod. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one shower room.
The pod is insulated, with electric heating. It's got a TV and WiFi. Everything's open plan inside, so it's one space for the kitchen, living and dining area. The beds are made up for you when you arrive, towels too. You park right next to it.
The site has other pods, so you'll have neighbours, but each pod has its own bit of space. It's on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and hear the usual farm noises.
You can walk straight out from the pod onto footpaths. The woods around here are good for walking, and the Long Mynd is just up the road for more serious hikes or mountain biking. There's a pub about four minutes walk away, the Royal Oak. It does food.
Pontesbury village is five minutes drive. It's got a couple of shops, a post office, cafes and takeaways. Shrewsbury is 30 minutes away if you want a proper town. It's good for a day out, with the castle and the river.
For planning, the Shropshire Hills National Landscape site has maps and ideas. National Trust Shropshire covers places like Attingham Park or the Carding Mill Valley.
No pets, I'm afraid. The rating is 4 Star, which reflects the facilities being all there, just in a compact, glamping style.
