This is New Thornber, a house we renovated last year. It’s on the outskirts of High Bentham, in North Yorkshire.
It's detached, so no shared walls. The main thing is the view. You can see the Three Peaks from here, like Ingleborough and Whernside, and you look right down the valley. There are sunrises at the back and sunsets at the front.
It sleeps up to six, in four bedrooms. Three of those are doubles, one has bunk beds. There are three bathrooms. One is downstairs.
The ground floor bedroom and shower room are handy if you don't want to use stairs. The stairs themselves are normal, not steep. The upstairs bathroom has a roll-top bath you can see the hills from.
Inside, it's just been done up so everything works and is clean. There's a big living room, an open plan kitchen and dining area, and an old farmhouse table. You can open the doors from the kitchen to the front patio. There's a wood burner in the lounge, TVs, wifi, and the usual things like a washing machine and dishwasher. Parking is on the drive. Bedding and towels are included.
High Bentham town is a fifteen minute walk down the hill. It's a small market town with a couple of pubs, cafes, and a good butcher. The train station is on the Lancaster to Leeds line. The golf club is right next door.
The location is good for getting to different places. You're about twenty minutes from the Settle to Carlisle railway. Ingleton village is five minutes away by car. They have the Waterfalls Walk and White Scar Caves there, and a seasonal outdoor swimming pool.
You're on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Forest of Bowland is to the west, and the Lakes are under an hour's drive. There are public footpaths straight from the house.
