Penny Black Cottage is in Thornton in Lonsdale, up in North Yorkshire. It's a one-bedroom cottage for two people.
Inside, it's all one level which makes it easy. The front door is wide enough for a wheelchair. There's a wood burner in the living room, and we leave you some logs to get started. The kitchen has what you need. The bed is a king-size. The bathroom has a shower over the bath.
Out the back there's a small, enclosed garden. It's private. There's a table and chairs out there.
The village is quiet. It's on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, so you're straight into the countryside. You can park right outside the cottage.
A lot of people come for the walking. The Ingleton Waterfalls Trail is about ten minutes drive away. It's a proper circular walk, about four and a half miles. You pay to do it, but it's well maintained. White Scar Caves, which is the longest show cave in the country, is also close by. And you can see the Ribblehead Viaduct from the road. It's about a twenty minute drive.
For a bigger town, Kirkby Lonsdale is about fifteen minutes away. They have shops, pubs, and a famous view from Ruskin's Walk. Kendal and the southern Lakes are within half an hour if you fancy going further.
Facilities wise: everything's included - electricity, bedding, towels. There's WiFi and a smart TV. You can bring one dog. It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
