This is Lodge Number One. It's one of the old hunting lodges on the Atholl Palace estate in Pitlochry. You're right in the grounds, so you get the views and you can use the hotel facilities. It's a three-bedroom lodge that sleeps six.
The layout is a bit different. The living room and kitchen are upstairs on the first floor to make the most of the view. The three bedrooms are downstairs, and each one has its own ensuite bathroom, which is handy.
You get access to the hotel's swimming pool, gym, and spa. There's a sauna and steam room too. You can walk up to the hotel for a meal or a drink. The hotel has a museum about its history if that's your sort of thing.
Pitlochry town centre is about a fifteen-minute walk down the hill. It's a nice walk. There are shops, cafes, and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre is there. The town is on the River Tummel, and there's a dam and fish ladder you can look at.
You're well placed for getting out. Loch Faskally is right there for fishing or a walk. For distilleries, Edradour is about a ten-minute drive, and Blair Athol is in the town itself. Good walking starts from the doorstep. You can drive into the Cairngorms National Park in under half an hour. Glasgow and Edinburgh are both about an hour and a half by car if you fancied a day trip.
In the lodge, there's a dishwasher and washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a patio area and parking right outside. One well-behaved dog is allowed. It's got a 4 Star rating.
