Gatehouse Lodge

Gatehouse Lodge is in Pitlochry, on the grounds of the Atholl Palace Hotel. It's one of a group of old hunting lodges they've turned into holiday lets. You've got three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and it sleeps six.

The layout is a bit different. The main living area is upstairs so you get the views. The bedrooms are mostly downstairs. Both bathrooms are en-suite.

It's a 4 Star place. It's comfortable and well-kept. It's not a new build, so expect a solid, traditional feel. You get a woodburning stove, dishwasher, and parking. Bedding and towels are included.

You're allowed one dog. You can walk straight out from the lodge into the hotel grounds. It's a short walk up to the main hotel building where you can use the facilities. That includes the swimming pool, and you can book meals or treatments at the spa.

Pitlochry town centre is about a ten-minute walk. There are shops, pubs, and the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. The Pitlochry Dam and Salmon Ladder is worth seeing.

If you want to get out, you're right in the Cairngorms. For walking, Queen's View is about 20 minutes by car. Blair Atholl and the castle are about five miles. The Aberfeldy area is within half an hour for more walks or the distillery.
