Elm Cottage
Elm Cottage is one of five little mews cottages on the Nutley Edge estate, near Horney Common. It’s a private estate, so it’s quiet. You get your own enclosed garden with a deck. The view from there is really something, just fields and woods.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s a 3 Star place, so it’s comfortable and clean, not luxurious. It’s part of a small group of cottages, so you might see other guests around, but it feels separate.
You can bring up to two dogs. The estate has about 11 acres you’re free to walk around. There’s a stream and some ancient woodland. In spring you’ll see lambs in the fields. The garden is fully enclosed, which is good if you’ve got dogs.
The place is run by a charity called Outward. All the profits go to their work, which is helping disadvantaged people. You can book all the cottages together if you’ve got a big group, for a wedding or something.
Nutley village is close by. It’s got a couple of shops and places to eat. For a big supermarket, you’d drive to Uckfield, about 15 minutes away.
You’re right on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. Good for walking straight out. For a proper day out, Sheffield Park and Garden is lovely. Ashdown Forest itself is all around you. Bewl Water is about a 20 minute drive if you want to try watersports or just walk around the reservoir.
Facilities are what you’d expect: WiFi, TV, a washing machine, parking right there. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a BBQ you can use.
