A converted former farm dairy building in a courtyard setting on a working farm on the edge of the New Forest. The Dairy is the perfect holiday cottage for a couple. Its vaulted open plan living space is cosy and welcoming with exposed beams to highlight the character of the building. There is a wood burner for those cool evenings and also full underfloor heating throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped and all of the cottages at Upper Kingston Farm have use of on-site laundry facilities, as well as access to a freezer. A small shower room leads off the kitchen and the spacious double bedroom also has vaulted ceilings and exposed roof timbers continuing the architectural character of the living area. Outside there is a garden and courtyard area shared with the other holiday cottages. In the summer evenings it’s a great place to enjoy a barbecue.
Ringwood lies on the western edge of the New Forest with easy access southwards to the coast and northwards to Salisbury. Just south of the town is the Castleman Trailway, an ideal walking and cycling route that follows 16 miles of the former Southampton to Dorchester railway line. Being a former railway line the gradients are very gentle. On the eastern side of the New Forest is the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, a major celebration of all that the British motoring industry contributed to the world of automobiles since the dawn of the horseless carriage. The Palace House offers guided tours with costumed guides and there is an exhibition explaining the work of the Special Operations Executive during World War II.
Bournemouth lies to the south west, with Poole and its harbour a little further west. Poole Harbour is a World Heritage Site and is probably the largest natural harbour in Europe internationally important for its resident and migratory wildfowl populations. As well as the wildlife there are all sorts of water based sporting activities available to try, with windsurfing and kitesurfing being particularly popular. If you venture northwards, Salisbury is easily accessible by car and well worth a visit to see the cathedral immortalised by John Constable. Just outside Salisbury is Wilton House, home of the Earl of Pembroke and also home to some priceless art works by Van Dyck. The gardens and grounds have an amazing adventure playground which children will love. New Forest Activities include canoeing, kayaking and cycle hire. You can also visit Bournemouth Aviation Museum and enjoy the Southampton Boat Show in September. Beach 8½ miles. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
