Bourne Cottage
Bourne Cottage is a beautiful property that has been in the owner’s family for quite some time and has now been fully refurbished in 2021 to be a perfect holiday home for this part of Hampshire. With both the living room and dining room both boasting a wood burner and a lovely courtyard garden, this holiday cottage is ideal whatever time of the year. The well equipped kitchen also has a lovely well feature in the floor, and up the stairs are three spacious bedrooms catering for couples and families.
Broughton village boasts a great pub and a variety of country walks from the doorstep, including The Clarendon Way; linking Salisbury and West Winchester with a lovely community spirit. You can find an array of independent and specialist shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants in the local town of Stockbridge, 4 miles. This includes art galleries, craft and gift shops. Another lovely local market town is Romsey, 9 miles away, and being the larger of the two towns it has all of the above and more. Romsey also has an independent department store, supermarket and a magnificent Norman Abbey dating back to 907AD.
Just outside the town and set in extensive parkland is the 18th century mansion of Broadlands, the former home of Lord Palmerston and the late Lord Louis Mountbatten. Broadlands is open to the public July and August, as well as hosting a range of shows, concerts and events throughout the year.
There are so many other places to visit within an hour’s drive, you’ll want to return again and again. These include Mottisfont Abbey and Rose Garden Hillier’s Arboretum, Danebury Iron Age Hill Fort, Hinton Ampner, The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop, The New Forest National Park where you can find the roaming New Forest ponies, Beaulieu Abbey and Motor Museum, Exbury gardens, Stonehenge, Wheyhill Hawk Conservancy, The Army Flying Museum, Highclere Castle, Buckler’s Hard, Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium, Wilton House, Thruxton Circuit, Marwell Zoo, Portsmouth Dockyard and the many beautiful beaches of the South Coast. Explore the historic cities of Winchester, 9 miles, Salisbury, 18 miles, and the maritime city of Southampton, 16 miles.
