These lovely stable conversions are situated to the south of the wonderful medieval city of Salisbury, in a small hamlet set within beautiful countryside. Salisbury is only a 20-minute walk with its stunning cathedral, a huge array of shops and great places to eat. There is so much to see and do in this part of England, including Salisbury Cathedral with Europe’s oldest working clock, Britain’s tallest spire and the best preserved of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta manuscripts. If you have a head for heights, then a tower tour is a must for spectacular views of the city.
Salisbury is best explored on foot, with a maze of intriguing side streets and a huge variety of shops, quaint cafés and pubs. Why not join a walking tour, and for those who may tire of walking, you can hire cycles to discover more? Of course, any visitor to Wiltshire will be keen to go and see Stonehenge. Unlike any structure on earth, the mysterious stones continue to amaze visitors. Make sure you get there early in the morning or late in the day to avoid the rush. Longleat, England’s first safari park, is also a great day out for all.
For garden lovers, Wiltshire boasts many famous and beautiful gardens, including the landscape gardens of Stourhead, which are spectacular at any time of the year. A lovely afternoon can be spent exploring these gardens and enjoying tea and cakes in the tea room afterwards.
