The Old House is on the edge of Mellis Common. It's a detached thatched cottage on our family's arable farm. It's over three hundred years old. We've updated it but kept the beams and timber floors.
It sleeps seven in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's a 5 Star property, so it's well-equipped and comfortable. The garden is large and enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. We allow up to three.
There's an open fire in the living room and a woodburner in the farmhouse kitchen. We supply some wood. You get the usual things: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there.
The local pub is about a mile away in Yaxley. They do food. The nearest shop is three miles, in Diss.
Diss is a market town with a railway station. Trains go direct to London. It has a swimming pool too. Eye is another small town nearby. For a bigger day out, you can get to Norwich or Bury St Edmunds in under an hour.
The Suffolk coast, like Southwold or Aldeburgh, is about a forty minute drive. The Norfolk Broads are a similar distance north.
