Little Beach is a shepherd's hut near Kirkdale, in Dumfriesshire. It's just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. We accept two dogs. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's not a hotel room, it's a well-made hut.
It's on its own in a field, so you've got peace and quiet. Cows and sheep in the neighbouring fields. The front looks straight out over the sea. The back faces the hills. You get both views.
The hut is made of wood, with a curved roof and proper wheels. Inside, it's open plan. There's a wood burner for heat. The kitchen is handmade, with a breakfast bar. There's a TV, WiFi, and French doors that open onto a covered veranda. That's a good spot to sit and watch the sunset over Wigtown Bay.
The bed is a king size. It's a cosy space but it fits. There's storage under the bed. The bathroom has a toilet, sink, and a shower cubicle.
The nearest beach is about two miles away. There's a shop two miles away. The closest pub and restaurant are in Gatehouse of Fleet, about five miles. The area is very dark at night, which is good for stargazing. It's on the edge of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park.
For facilities: there's a wood burner, a dishwasher, bedding and towels are included, you have your own garden area and parking right there. There's bicycle storage if you need it.
If you want to explore, the Solway Coast and Galloway Forest are right here. For a day out, you can drive into the Galloway Hills or along the coast to places like Portpatrick. It's a good base for the Southwest 300 driving route.
