Stanegate Cottage
Stanegate Cottage is in Greenhead, near Haltwhistle. It's a stone cottage converted from an old cow byre. It's in the owner's grounds but it's all private for you.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom and an open-plan living area with a wood burner. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, clean and mostly modern, but it's an old building so mind your head on the beams.
The views are good. You look out over Haltwhistle Golf Course at the back, and you can see parts of Hadrian's Wall from the upstairs windows. At night, there's very little light pollution so the stars are clear.
You can walk straight out onto footpaths and cycle routes. We've got storage for bikes and boots. There's a pub and a tea room about five minutes' walk away in the village. The pub does food. The nearest shop is in Haltwhistle, about three miles.
You're right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. The Roman sites are all around you. Vindolanda is very close. You can get to Hexham, Carlisle, and into the Scottish Borders quite easily. The Lake District is about an hour's drive if you fancy it.
For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, an enclosed garden, WiFi, and a TV. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring two dogs.
