Ardvenhor

This is Ardvenhor, in Gartocharn. It's a big detached house right on the edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Almost the first thing you'll do when you walk in is look out the big windows. The view is the main thing. It looks straight out over Loch Lomond and the hills. It's a proper view.

It sleeps eight, has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of those is an en-suite off the main bedroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well done. There's a wood burner in the living room. The garden is huge, over two acres. It's fenced so kids or dogs can't wander.

The stairs are normal house stairs, not steep cottage ones. The place is open plan downstairs which is good if you've got a group.

There's a walking trail right from the property called the Dumpling Trail. It's an easy walk through the woods with cracking views. For something bigger, Ben Lomond is about a 20 minute drive away. It's one of the most popular Munros.

The loch is five minutes down the road. Balmaha and Milarrochy bays are good for pottering about on the shore. You can get boat trips from Balmaha over to Inchcailloch Island from the National Park site.

For a day out, Stirling is about 40 minutes by car. You've got the castle and the Wallace Monument there. Glasgow is also about 45 minutes if you need a city. The Cameron House resort is nearby if you fancy a spa day or a meal.

Facilities wise, it's all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for a few cars. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
