Ptarmigan Lodge

Ptarmigan Lodge is a holiday home in Balmaha, on Loch Lomond. It's one of a few houses in a small development near the marina.

It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and four shower rooms, so everyone gets their own. All the bedrooms are on the ground floor. One has bunk beds.

Upstairs, there's an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. The living area has a TV and the kitchen has a dishwasher. There's a balcony off this room that looks over the marina. You can see the boats coming and going.

Outside, there's a hot tub at the back of the house. You need to bring your own towels for the hot tub. Bed linen and normal towels are provided. There's also a picnic table out the front.

The house has Wi-Fi. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them, and a stairgate at the top of the stairs.

Balmaha is right on the lochside. You can walk to the pub, the Oak Tree Inn, for food. There's also a good café called St Mocha for coffee and ice cream.

For a good walk, you can climb Conic Hill. The path starts right from the village. The view from the top looks right over Loch Lomond and the islands. You can get the ferry from the pier over to Inchcailloch island to explore.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is all around you. You're well placed for going into the hills or along the lochside. Glasgow is about a 40-minute drive south if you need a city day. Stirling, with the castle and the Wallace Monument, is under an hour's drive east.

The National Park website is useful for planning walks and boat trips: Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. For more historic sites, you can look at Historic Environment Scotland.

No pets, I'm afraid.
