The St Bees Knees

The St Bees Knees is in the village of St Bees, on the coast. It's a townhouse, so it's tall and narrow, spread over three floors. It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, one on each floor, which helps with the morning queue.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The kitchen is modern and has a dishwasher. There's a washing machine too. Bedding and towels are included.

The main thing about the house is the view. The front rooms on the first and second floor look straight out over the sea. The master bedroom has a roll-top bath in the room, positioned to take in the view.

Stairs warning: they're standard for a townhouse, but there are quite a lot of them. The top floor is two flights up from the ground floor.

Outside, there's a small enclosed patio area at the back with a BBQ. You can park two cars on the driveway.

The village is quiet. The beach is about a five minute walk. It's a good, sandy beach. The St Bees Headland is a nature reserve with good walks and lots of seabirds. The Wainwright Coast to Coast walk starts at the beach, if that's your sort of thing.

The nearest pub is a short walk away. There's a local shop for basics.

You're on the western edge of the Lake District. Ennerdale Valley is about a 20 minute drive inland. It's one of the quieter lakes. Whitehaven and its marina are about ten minutes north by car. The Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway is roughly half an hour's drive.

We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
