Bumblebee Cottage Folly Gate

Bumblebee Cottage is in Folly Gate, near Okehampton. It's a converted barn we did a few years back, so it feels modern inside. Sleeps two, one bedroom upstairs with a king-size bed and ensuite shower. The stairs are okay but they're a bit more like a ship's ladder than a house staircase, you'll see what I mean.

Downstairs is all one space, kitchen, living area, table. There's a dishwasher. You get a patio area out the front and a bit of courtyard out the back, both with chairs.

It's a four star rating, so it's got everything you need. We include towels and bedding. You can bring one dog.

The location is the main thing. You're right on the Tarka Trail, so if you've brought bikes you can just wheel them out the door. Abbeyford Woods is a five minute walk down the lane, good for a dog walk or a proper stretch. At night, because there aren't many lights, you can see a lot of stars.

Okehampton is about five minutes in the car. They've got a supermarket, a few shops, and the castle ruins are worth a look. You're on the edge of Dartmoor so you can drive onto the moor in about ten minutes. For a pub, the nearest one is just over a mile away.

If you want a day out, Lydford Gorge and Castle Drogo are both about half an hour's drive. The north coast, like Bude, is about forty minutes. South to places like Torrington or the coast at Westward Ho! is maybe thirty minutes.
