Old Stable Cottage

Old Stable Cottage is on the edge of Corscombe, near Okehampton. It's a converted stone barn, so the walls are thick. It's one of three cottages on the same small estate, about four and a half acres of grounds and woodland.

It sleeps six, with three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which helps. The stairs are steep, as you'd expect in an old barn. The place has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic.

Inside, there's a wood burner. Bring logs or buy them locally. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a TV and WiFi.

Outside, you have your own garden area with a patio and a BBQ. The main draw is the shared facilities. From Whitsun until the end of September, there's an outdoor swimming pool and a sauna you can use between half nine and six in the evening. There's also a covered outdoor kitchen area in the woods for cooking outside. It's a five minute walk from the cottage.

Location wise, you're right on the edge of Dartmoor. You can walk straight onto the moor from here. Okehampton is about ten minutes by car. It has a supermarket and a few shops.

For a day out, the Dartmoor National Park is on your doorstep. The National Trust has a few properties nearby, like Castle Drogo. For riding, there are local stables that do treks on the moor. The north and south coasts are both about a forty minute drive, depending on traffic.

Parking is on site. No pets allowed.

If you're planning walks, the Dartmoor National Park Authority website is useful. For general Devon information, Visit Devon has good guides.
