Orchard Barn

Orchard Barn is a barn conversion near Whiddon Down, right on the edge of Dartmoor. It's on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle in the fields.

It sleeps six people. There are three bedrooms, all with super king-size beds. Two have their own shower rooms, and the third uses the main bathroom, which has a roll-top bath. The stairs are open-tread, which is worth knowing if you have small children or anyone unsteady on their feet.

Downstairs is mostly one big room. The kitchen has an island with a couple of stools. The living and dining area is at the other end, with a wood burner. There's air conditioning for the summer. It gets the afternoon sun.

Outside, there's a patio with seating and a barbecue. We leave some charcoal for you. There's a small orchard beside it. We also have an external games room with a pool table and table tennis. You can store bikes or surfboards in there. It has a washing machine and tumble dryer too. There's an outside shower with hot and cold water, which is handy for dogs or sandy kids.

You're on the north-east side of Dartmoor. You can walk straight onto the moor from the farm track. Okehampton is about ten minutes away for shops. The A30 is close, so it's easy to get around. You can be on the north coast, like Bude or Boscastle, in about forty minutes. The south coast, like Teignmouth or Exmouth, is about the same.

For local visits, Castle Drogo is nearby. The Dartmoor National Park website is good for walking routes. The Granite Way and Tarka Trail are both close for cycling.

Facilities: parking for a few cars, an electric vehicle charger, WiFi, a cot and highchair, and a stairgate. We allow two well-behaved dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
