Orchard Barn
Orchard Barn is a converted barn on a working farm near Whiddon Down. It's detached and set back from the lane, looking out over our fields. You get the whole garden and the bit by the old apple orchard to yourselves.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. They all have super king beds. Two have their own shower rooms, and there's a family bathroom with a roll-top bath as well. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's done to a high standard and feels quite new. We finished the conversion in 2021.
The main living space is all open plan. There's a kitchen with an island, a dining table, and a sitting area with a wood burner. It has air conditioning for the summer. Outside, there's a patio with seating and a barbecue. We leave a bag of charcoal for you.
There's a separate games room in the yard with table tennis and a pool table. You can also store bikes or surfboards in there. It has a washing machine and tumble dryer. For anyone with a dog, there's an outdoor shower with hot and cold water. We take up to two pets.
You're right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park here. You can walk or cycle straight onto the moor from the farm track. You'll see the ponies. Okehampton is about ten minutes away for shops. The National Trust's Castle Drogo is close by too.
You're fairly central in Devon. The north coast, like Westward Ho!, is about 40 minutes in the car. The south coast, for Teignmouth or Dawlish, is about the same. The A30 is two minutes away, so getting around is straightforward.
We leave a welcome pack with some local bits for you. If you want to order meat for your stay from our farm, we can arrange that. Our neighbour does pies and cakes too, which you can order in advance.
Other things to note: there's on-site parking, including an electric vehicle charger. We provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. All bedding and towels are included.
