Heath Hills is a farmhouse outside Okehampton. It's old, 18th century, made from cob. It's detached and sits on its own in the fields. The garden has a patio with furniture and a barbecue. You get views over the fields and the woods.
It sleeps ten people in five bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one has a walk-in shower, the other has a bath with a shower over it. One bedroom is downstairs with a kingsize bed. Upstairs, there are four more. Two have super kingsize beds that can be split into twins if you need it.
Inside, it's been renovated. It's comfortable, not fussy. There's a big living room with a wood burner and a TV. The dining room shares another wood burner with the sunroom next door. We use the sunroom as a second sitting area, it's got another TV. The kitchen has what you need, and there's a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
You're right on the edge of Dartmoor here. You can walk straight out onto the moor. Okehampton town is a few minutes' drive for shops. The Dartmoor National Park website is good for walking routes. The Tarka Trail starts nearby at Abbeyford Woods, which is nice for a flat walk or a cycle. Meldon Reservoir is a good walk from here too.
For a day out, Castle Drogo is about twenty minutes away. The north Devon coast, like Westward Ho!, is about forty-five minutes. The south coast beaches, like Teignmouth, are about an hour.
Facilities: everything listed is there. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. You can bring up to two dogs. It's got a 4 Star rating.
