North Barn
North Barn is our place in Monkokehampton. It's a converted barn, detached. It's quiet here, just fields and the lane.
It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. Three bathrooms, so no big queues in the morning. Two are en-suite to the main bedrooms. It's got the 5 Star rating, which means it's well put together and everything works. It's a barn, so the ceilings are high and there are beams. The stairs have a glass side, which is nice but watch the kids.
The main room is all open plan: kitchen, dining, and sitting area. The kitchen has a big island. The table seats everyone. There's a large TV and plenty of sofa space. The garden is enclosed, with a patio and some lawn. We've left a BBQ out there.
You can bring two dogs. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. All bedding and towels are included. There's parking right there.
The village is tiny. For a shop or a pub, you'll need to drive a few minutes to Iddesleigh, Hatherleigh, or Winkleigh. They've got the basics.
You're right between Dartmoor and Exmoor. Good walking straight from the door, or a short drive to the proper tors. The Tarka Trail is close for cycling. The north coast beaches, like Westward Ho! or Croyde, are about a 40-minute drive. Dartmoor National Park is 20 minutes south for a proper hike.
