South Barn
South Barn is in Monkokehampton in mid-Devon. It's a detached barn conversion we did a few years back. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a 5 Star rating, which essentially means it's well equipped and finished to a high standard.
You get two living rooms, both with sofas and TVs. The kitchen is open plan with a dining table under a skylight. It's got everything you'd expect: dishwasher, washing machine, that sort of thing. The stairs are fine.
Outside, there's a patio with a picnic bench. The garden is enclosed. You can bring up to two dogs. We also have a cot and highchair if needed.
The location is rural. You're on the edge of Dartmoor, with good access to both Exmoor and the north coast. The Tarka Trail for cycling and walking is close by. For a day out without driving, the Tarka Train Line runs from Eggesford Junction to Barnstaple or Exeter.
The local village is Iddesleigh, about five minutes by car. It has a pub and shop. It's known as War Horse country, where Michael Morpurgo wrote the book. Hatherleigh and Winkleigh are also nearby for supplies.
The north Devon beaches like Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, and Croyde are about a 40-minute drive. Dartmoor National Park is on your doorstep for walking. For organised activities, Adventure Okehampton is nearby.
