Shore House

Shore House is in Kilcreggan, right on the water. It's a detached house, so you're on your own. The main reason you'd pick it is the view. Every window looks straight out over the Firth of Clyde, and you can walk down to the shore from the garden.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both ensuite, so it's good for two couples. It's a 4 Star, so it's well-finished. Everything's on one level, which is handy.

There's a big open plan room with a wood burner in the middle. It heats the whole space. Doors open onto a deck. You'll spend most of your time there if the weather's any good.

The local shop, a cafe, and a pub are a few minutes walk up the road. Kilcreggan pier is about 250 yards away. It's an old Victorian pier, just for foot passengers now. You can get a ferry across to Gourock from there, which connects to the trains into Glasgow.

You're close to the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. That's about a 20-minute drive for walking or cycling. Glasgow and Stirling are both under an hour by car if you want a city day.

Heading the other way, towards Dunoon, you get to what they call Argyll's Secret Coast. The driving is slow but the scenery is good. The ferry from Colintraive to the Isle of Bute is a three-minute crossing. Rothesay on Bute has a faded Victorian charm, and Mount Stuart house is worth seeing.

In terms of stuff here: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, TV, and parking. The garden is enclosed. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
