Morlan Cottage is on the edge of Newport in Pembrokeshire. It’s a detached stone cottage. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you have kids or a dog. You get a view of the fields from the back, and on a clear day you can see the sea from the patio.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, the other is just a shower room. The rating is 4 Star, which feels about right. It’s comfortable and well looked after.
The kitchen is a good size, with a dining table and a sofa in there. The lounge is separate and has a woodburning stove. You’ll need to bring your own logs or buy them locally. The stairs are normal, not too steep.
Newport is a five minute drive down the hill. It’s a nice little town with a few shops, cafes, and a couple of pubs. The Parrog is the nearest bit of coast. The beach there is sandy when the tide’s out. For a bigger beach, Newport Sands is about a ten minute walk from the town centre.
This is good walking country. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs right through Newport. You can walk east towards Dinas Head or west towards Cwm-yr-Eglwys. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline here.
Within half an hour you can drive to Fishguard, or to Cardigan. The Preseli Hills are inland if you fancy something different from the coast. There’s a golf course just outside Newport.
What’s here: the place has a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for two cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
