Wisteria Lodge

Wisteria Lodge is a detached bungalow near Newport in Pembrokeshire. It’s called Cilgwyn. It sleeps two, with a bedroom and a bathroom on the ground floor, so there are no stairs at all. It’s got a 4 Star rating.

The place is set back from the road in a quiet valley. There are woods and a river at the bottom of the field. The sitting room has a high ceiling and a big, oddly-shaped window that looks out onto the garden. It’s open plan with the kitchen. The bedroom is simple and quiet.

It’s properly rural. You can walk from the door along the paths through the grounds. There’s a fenced hayfield you can use for letting the dog run. We leave a hose by the door and some old towels for muddy paws. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

The Gellifawr Country Hotel, which is a old stone farmhouse, is a few minutes’ walk up the lane. They’ve got a bar and restaurant and log fires in winter.

For days out, Newport Sands is about a ten-minute drive. It’s a good, long beach. New Quay, where you can sometimes see dolphins from the harbour or take a boat trip, is about twenty minutes away by car. Cardigan town is about fifteen minutes.

The facilities are what you’d expect. There’s a woodburning stove, TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. The garden is yours to use.
