This is Wisteria Lodge in Cilgwyn, Carmarthenshire. It’s a self-contained annex, though it’s completely detached, so you’ve got your own little building.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating and it’s clean and tidy inside.
The valley is wooded and quiet. You’ll see plenty of birds. The river’s down below, you can walk along it. There’s a fenced hayfield next to the lodge specifically for dogs.
The pub and restaurant, the Gellifawr Country Hotel, is right next door. It’s handy for a meal. They have a woodburner for winter.
Beaches aren’t too far. Newport Sands is about a 15 minute drive. New Quay, where they do the dolphin spotting boat trips, is about half an hour. Cardigan is about 20 minutes away for bigger shops.
The place is all on one level, which some people find easier. There’s an open plan living area with a kitchen corner. The ceiling is high and there’s a strange shaped window. It lets in plenty of light.
We allow one well-behaved dog. There’s a hose by the door and a dog towel provided.
Facilities: It’s got a woodburning stove, WiFi, a TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right outside.
If you’re looking for walks nearby, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is close, and the National Trust in Wales has lots of properties and coastline to explore.
