The Old Cow Shed

The Old Cow Shed is here in Cutthorpe, just on the edge of the Peak District. It's a barn conversion on our farm, but it's not a working farm. It’s peaceful, on a private lane, with fields and woods around.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom, all on the ground floor so there are no stairs to worry about. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. We did it up a few years ago so things like the kitchen and bathroom are fresh, but we kept the old stone walls and beams.

You’ve got a wood burner, a dishwasher, and a patio area with a barbecue. There's also a hot tub outside. We provide towels and robes for that. Parking is right outside.

You can bring one dog. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

The location is good for walking. You can step out the door and be straight onto paths. Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park are right there. There are three pubs in the village, all do food. The nearest shop is a couple of miles away in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield town centre, with that crooked spire, is about ten minutes by car. Into the Peak District proper, places like Bakewell and Chatsworth are maybe twenty minutes. Chatsworth is an easy day out. A bit further, within half an hour, you’ve got places like Hardwick Hall or Bolsover Castle.

If you want to check walks or places to visit before you come, these sites are useful: Peak District National Park and National Trust Peak District.

You can book the cottage together with Tawny Owl Barn and The Pig Sty if you're coming in a bigger group.
