The Old Cow Shed
The Old Cow Shed is a one-bedroom cottage on our farm near Cutthorpe. It's all on the ground floor, which makes it straightforward. We finished the conversion a few years ago, so things like the kitchen and bathroom are modern. It's cosy for two people.
You're on a private lane here. It's quiet. The farm isn't working anymore, so it's just fields and woods. You can walk straight out onto paths that go to the Linacre Reservoirs or Holmebrook Park.
Inside, there's a living room with a kitchen and dining area at one end. The bedroom is a good size. The bathroom has a big, deep bath. The ceiling is vaulted with some exposed beams, and there's an old stone wall in the bedroom. The floorboards are original. It has a 4 Star rating.
We've also got an indoor swimming pool and a hot tub in a separate building that guests can use. We provide towels and gowns for that.
Cutthorpe village has a green and three pubs that do food. You get a view over towards Chesterfield, you can see the crooked spire. Chesterfield town is about three miles away for shops. The edge of the Peak District National Park is right here.
From the cottage, Chatsworth House is maybe a ten-minute drive. For a longer day out, places like Bakewell, Castleton, or Haddon Hall are all within half an hour. There's a lot of walking and cycling from the door.
Facilities-wise: it has a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. The property is wheelchair accessible at the entrance and throughout. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
