The Shepherd's Hut
This is the Shepherd's Hut, out near Dun in Aberdeenshire. It's exactly what it sounds like, a proper shepherds hut, but done up for two people. It's detached and sits by itself in a field, so it's very quiet.
It's got a four star rating. That means it's comfortable and well finished. There's a double bed, a small but decent shower room, and a little kitchen area. It has heating, TV, and WiFi. The main thing is the space outside. You have your own bit of garden with a fire pit and a private hot tub. You can sit out there and just look at the fields.
It's about two and a half miles to the nearest pub, the usual sort of country local. Montrose is four miles away for shops and things like a leisure pool. The beach at Montrose is sandy and good for walks, about three miles. For a really spectacular beach, Lunan Bay is about a fifteen minute drive. St Cyrus is similar.
If you like wildlife, the Montrose Basin nature reserve is right there. It's famous for the geese in winter. For walking, the Angus Glens are inland, maybe half an hour's drive. They're proper foothills of the Grampians.
You can bring one dog. There's parking right next to the hut. All bedding and towels are included.
There's another cottage on the same site called The Steading. You can book them together if you're a group of four, but they're separate so you won't be overlooking each other.
