The Cottage is in St Cyrus, Aberdeenshire. It's a 19th century semi-detached place on a quiet lane at the edge of the village. It sleeps two people in one bedroom, but has two bathrooms for some reason, which is handy. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean.
The garden is mostly left to nature, so there are a lot of birds and wild plants. It backs onto farmland at the rear. The stairs are fairly steep, it's just how old cottages are.
You can walk to the village shop, a couple of cafes, and the hotel. The beach is a short walk too, maybe ten or fifteen minutes. It's a big sandy beach with cliffs and dunes.
The cliffs and dunes around the beach are a National Nature Reserve. You can see peregrine falcons and other wildlife there. It's worth a look on the NatureScot page for St Cyrus before you go.
The facilities are all there: a woodburning stove, wifi, TV, washing machine, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. There's an electric vehicle charging point. We accept up to three pets.
If you want to go further out, Aberdeen is about 30 miles north. There's the art gallery, maritime museum, and that sort of thing. The nearest bigger town for supermarkets and more shops is Montrose, about five miles away. There are pubs and restaurants there too.
For local history, Dunnottar Castle is about a 25 minute drive south, near Stonehaven. It's quite a dramatic spot.
