Tom's Lodge sleeps ten. It's in Boat of Garten, which is deep in the Cairngorms National Park. You can see the mountains from the back. It's detached and has its own garden, which is fully fenced. Good if you've brought dogs.
The place has a 5 Star rating. It's modern and well thought out, more than it is grand. There's a big south-facing glass wall in the main living area, so it gets a lot of sun. It's built to be warm, with sheep's wool insulation and clay walls. You'll probably find the wood burner is enough, even in winter. There's no central heating.
There are four bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms and a wet room are on the ground floor, which is helpful if stairs are an issue. The stairs themselves are fine, normal. Upstairs is a master bedroom with a king-size bed, another living space with sofas that fold out into two singles, and a balcony.
The kitchen has good appliances. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, all that. Bedding and towels are included. There's a hot tub outside, looking towards the hills.
You're right on the edge of the forest. You can walk straight from the door into the trees. The village of Boat of Garten is about three miles away for a shop and a pub. For a bigger shop or more places to eat, Aviemore is about a fifteen minute drive.
The area is good for walking, cycling, and golf. The Strathspey Steam Railway runs from Boat of Garten. The Cairngorm Mountain funicular is close for the ski area or summer trips up. If you're into estates and gardens, the Highland Wildlife Park is nearby and so is Leckmelm.
You can bring up to two dogs. There are dog robes for them. We provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. Parking is on site.
