Tom's Lodge

Tom's Lodge is in Boat of Garten. It's in the middle of the Cairngorms National Park. The building is detached, set back from the road. It’s an eco-lodge. The back of the house is basically one big glass wall looking south, straight at the Cairngorm mountains. It's a good view.

It sleeps ten people. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are downstairs, and there's a downstairs wet room. So it works if stairs are a problem. It’s got a 5 Star rating. It’s well finished.

The house is built to stay warm. The walls are clay and insulated with sheep's wool, and that south-facing glass brings in a lot of sun. You’ll mostly heat it with the wood burner. It works.

Upstairs, there’s a main bedroom and a second living area that opens onto a balcony. Two of the sofas in there fold out into single beds if you need them. All the beds have memory foam mattresses.

The garden is fully fenced. You can bring up to two dogs. There are walks straight from the gate into the forest.

You’ve got a hot tub on the patio. It looks out at the view.

There’s a shop, a pub, and a restaurant in Boat of Garten village, about three miles away. Carrbridge is also close. For a bigger trip, Aviemore is about a fifteen minute drive. Inverness is just under an hour.

You’re right in the National Park. For local information, the Cairngorms National Park Authority site is useful. The National Trust for Scotland Cairngorms page has details on the area too.

Facilities: there’s parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a BBQ, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them.
