The Bothy is in Duackbridge, near Nethy Bridge in the Highlands. It's a detached little building, separate from our main house, but part of the same bit of land.
It sleeps two, in one bedroom. The bed splits into two singles if you need it. There's a bathroom with a shower. The main room is open plan, with the kitchen at one end and the living space at the other. It's all on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible, with grab rails.
It's got a 3 Star rating, which is right. It's simple and clean. The main thing is the wood-burning stove. It's a pot belly stove and it heats the whole place up really well. You'll need to bring logs or buy them locally.
There's a TV with Freesat and a DVD player. The mobile signal out here is 4G, but it can be patchy. The wi-fi from the house doesn't really reach the Bothy, so it's a bit of a techno-free zone. We think that's a good thing.
Outside, there's a private patio area with a barbecue and garden furniture. You can use the wider garden too. There's space to store bikes if you bring them.
It's very quiet here. The nearest pub and restaurant is about three and a half miles away in Nethy Bridge. You really do need a car.
The area is good for walking straight from the door. You're right on the edge of the Cairngorms. For a big day out, Cairngorms National Park has all the information you need. Aviemore is about a twenty minute drive away for shops and more places to eat. If you're interested in the local history, the Culloden battlefield is about a forty minute drive.
Practical stuff: bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There's parking right outside.
The Bothy can be booked together with another property we have here, The Chalet, if you're a bigger group.
