Smiddy Cottage

This is Smiddy Cottage in Weem, just outside Aberfeldy. It's a detached stone cottage, fairly small from the front but it goes back a bit. It used to be a blacksmith's workshop. We refurbished it a few years ago.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow in places, and the treads are a bit open. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable and clean.

You've got a garden out the back that's enclosed. There's parking right outside.

It's in the middle of the village, so it's quiet but you're not isolated. There's a pub about 400 yards away that does food. Aberfeldy is less than a mile for shops, cafes, and a cinema. The Dewar's distillery is there if you like whisky.

For getting outside, you can walk along the River Tay from the door or up through Weem Wood. The Ben Lawers nature reserve is about twenty minutes by car. Loch Tay is close for boat trips. There are several decent golf courses nearby.

It's a good base for seeing the area. Pitlochry is about half an hour's drive. The Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore is just over half an hour. If you want to go further, you can be at the edge of the Cairngorms or in Stirling in under an hour and a half.

The cottage has a wood burning stove, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it. Sorry, no pets.
