The Place 2B

The Place 2B is a converted barn, one of four here at Higher Churchtown Farm near Tresmeer. It’s a really spacious place, sleeps fourteen, with six bedrooms and three bathrooms. It’s got a 5 Star rating from Visit England, so everything is in very good order.

The barn has underfloor heating downstairs, which is nice in the cooler months. There are vaulted ceilings and exposed stone walls, so it feels like the old building it is. The stairs are a typical cottage style, so they’re a bit steeper than modern ones.

Outside, you have your own small patio. There’s also a large shared garden area with an 18-foot above-ground swimming pool, which is open in the summer months. Beyond that, there’s a half-acre games field for football or just running about.

Inside, there’s a games room with a pool table and darts. The owners are artists and sometimes display paintings of Cornwall around the barns, which you can buy if you like them. It’s a working farm, so you’ll see the sheep. If you visit between January and early April, you might see lambs.

Location wise, it’s quiet. The nearest shop is about three miles away in Launceston. There’s a pub and restaurant about four miles. Launceston has supermarkets and a few places to eat. It’s about a ten-mile drive to the north coast at places like Bude.

If you want ideas for days out, the National Trust in Cornwall looks after a lot of the coastline. The Cornwall National Landscape site has walking information. For specific attractions, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are both within half an hour’s drive.

Facilities: there’s a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. The pool is shared with guests from the other three barns here. Sorry, no pets.

The other barns here are What a Beauty, Proper Job, and Kettle’s On. You can book them separately, or all four together for a larger group.
