Silverland

Silverland is in Hordle, on the edge of the New Forest. It's a large thatched cottage. The main thing is the space and privacy. It's on about four acres of its own land, with fields all around you. I don't think you'd see another house from the windows.

It sleeps fourteen, which is why it's usually big families or groups that book it. Seven bedrooms, four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The inside is roomy, with old features like beams and a big fireplace. Because it's thatched, the ceilings can be low in some parts. Just so you know.

The garden is the main draw. There's a heated outdoor swimming pool. You can get to it straight from the kitchen. There's a big area for games, a couple of lawns, a barbecue and outdoor furniture.

There's an annexe next to the cottage. That's where I sometimes stay. It has its own driveway, entrance and garden, completely separate. You won't see me unless you need something. The windows are double-glazed and have blinds, so it's private.

You can walk to a local pub and restaurant. There's a shop a couple of minutes' drive away. The coast is about two miles away.

Lymington is three miles. It has the harbour, shops and the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Inside the New Forest itself, you've got all the walking and cycling, and the ponies wandering about.

Around here, within half an hour you've got places like Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bucklers Hard, and the beaches at Mudeford and Bournemouth. For a day out with kids, Marwell Zoo is about 25 minutes away, and Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park is about half an hour.

For facilities: it's got pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, bedding and towels included, WiFi, parking. It's family friendly, we provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to three dogs. The pool is open from May to September.
