This is Pond Cottage. It's in Sandy Down, Hampshire, on the edge of the New Forest.
The house is detached and sits alone off a long gravel drive, set back from the lane. It's very quiet out here. You look out over fields with horses. There's a lot of wildlife around, deer and pheasants and things. The garden is enclosed. One thing to mention, despite the name, there isn't a pond in the garden. There's a big one next door, but not on your bit.
It sleeps seven, maybe eight with the pull-out bed. There are four bedrooms. Two are downstairs, along with one of the bathrooms. That one's a Jack and Jill style, so it's between the bedroom and the hall. Upstairs has two more bedrooms and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The stairs to get up there are the original cottage ones. They're steep and a bit narrow.
The kitchen is a good size, with a proper dining area and doors out to the patio. There's underfloor heating in there. The whole place has a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.
You can walk to the local pub across the fields, it's about half a mile. If you go by road it's a bit longer. They do food. The nearest shop is about two miles away in Brockenhurst.
Brockenhurst is five minutes in the car. It's a nice village with a few shops, cafes, and a train station. Lymington is about ten minutes away. That's where the sailing is, and you can get the ferry to the Isle of Wight from there.
You're right on the edge of the New Forest National Park. The ponies are everywhere. You can walk or cycle straight out from the cottage. For other days out, National Trust New Forest has good information. Beaulieu Motor Museum and Buckler's Hard are close. Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park is about a 30-minute drive.
Facilities: it's got pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV, wood burner. There's an electric vehicle charger. Parking for two cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
