Salters Cottage is in Sandy Down, Hampshire. It's a detached 16th century house. It gets quiet here. The garden slopes down from the house to a stream and then opens up to a view of fields and forest at the back.
It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are four bathrooms, which is unusual and handy. One has a roll-top bath. The stairs are fairly typical for an old house. There's a small bedroom at the top where a bit of the original wall is exposed, which is interesting.
The main living room has an inglenook fireplace. There's also a separate snug with a wood burner if people want to spread out. The kitchen is hand-built with an oak island. It opens into a dining area looking over the garden. Off the kitchen, there's a raised deck with seating. Further down the garden there's a proper, heated outdoor swimming pool. It has a safety cover and is available in the summer months.
There's a separate oak studio room at the bottom of the garden with French doors. It's a good space for games or if you need a bit of quiet.
The local pub is about a quarter of a mile away. There's a shop half a mile away.
You can walk straight into the New Forest from here. The area is a National Park. You'll see the ponies. Lymington is about a ten minute drive. It's a sailing town with a harbour, shops, and a ferry to the Isle of Wight.
Within about half an hour you can get to a few places. Beaulieu and the motor museum, Buckler's Hard, and the beaches at Mudeford. Further on, you've got Bournemouth, Poole, and Paultons Park if you have children.
Facilities: it's got a 5 Star rating. There's WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, parking for several cars. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
