The Longhouse At Threave

The Longhouse at Threave is on a farm near Bridge of Dee, just outside Castle Douglas. It's detached. It was built to look like an old Scottish longhouse but everything inside is new.

It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's well-equipped. Two bedrooms are downstairs. One is a double with its own shower, the other has bunk beds. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms and another shower room.

The main living area is all open plan. The ceiling is high and there are big doors looking out over the fields. It's a good space if you've got a group. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings.

Outside, there's a private hot tub. There's also a separate games room with a table tennis table.

The property is rural. You'll need a car. It's about a ten minute drive into Castle Douglas. They call it the Food Town, and it's got a lot of good butchers, delis and places to eat. Threave Garden is even closer, maybe five minutes away. It's a National Trust for Scotland site with nice walks.

Dumfries is about a 20 minute drive. The Galloway Forest Park is within half an hour if you want proper forest walks or a bit of stargazing. The coast at Kirkcudbright is roughly 25 minutes.

Facilities: everything you'd expect is included - bedding, towels, WiFi, TV. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, cot and highchair. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs.
