St. Georges Cottage

St. Georges Cottage is in Scholes. It's a semi-detached stone cottage from the 1700s. It's on a lane near the centre of the village.

It sleeps six, over four bedrooms, with two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating. The layout is over three floors, so there are quite a few stairs. They're cottage stairs, so some are a bit narrow and steep. The loft bedroom has a double bed, but the ceiling is low in parts. It's fine for one person.

You've got a pub and a small shop right on the lane. There are a few other pubs in the village within walking distance. There are also two cafes about a ten minute walk away, with good views.

Holmfirth is the nearest proper town. It's about a seven minute drive, or a 35 minute walk if you're up for it. It has all the shops, cafes, and restaurants you'd need. It's known for being in 'Last of the Summer Wine'. The Holmfirth Festival of Folk is based there. It's also on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

For a day out, you can drive into the Peak District proper in about half an hour. Places like Marsden or the edges around Holme Moss are close. Huddersfield is about a 20 minute drive for bigger shops or the railway station.

The cottage has a wood burning stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi. The front entrance is step-free, which is good for wheelchairs, but the internal stairs mean the bedrooms and bathrooms aren't accessible.
