Birch Cottage is in Catshaw, on the edge of the Peak District. It’s one of a few cottages converted from a 17th century barn. The building’s original stonework and beams are still there. It’s a high spot, so the views from here over the moors are quite something.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. It’s got a 5 Star rating, which means it’s a comfortable, well-finished place. The main living area has a wood burner.
You share some good facilities with the other cottages here. There's a spa on site with saunas and steam rooms, a shared hot tub, tennis courts, and a big Finnish barbecue hut. The gardens are extensive and have plenty of seating to look at the view.
You’re surrounded by fields here. The Trans Pennine Trail passes nearby, so you can walk straight from the door. There’s a pub about a mile and a half away, and a restaurant half a mile down the lane.
Holmfirth is the nearest town, about a fifteen minute drive. It's got shops and cafes. For a day out, Bakewell is roughly half an hour. So is Chatsworth House. If you want a city, Sheffield or Manchester are each about 40 minutes by car.
Facilities: it's got parking, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
