The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is up in Catshaw, on the edge of the Peak District. It's part of a bigger place, but your bit is separate. There are a few cottages here, all sharing the big garden. The views are the main thing, really. They're good. You look straight out over the moors.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, so it's well kitted out. There are beams and stone walls, that sort of thing. It's kept warm with a wood burner.

The garden is shared with the other cottages, but it's massive, so you won't be on top of each other. There are picnic benches out there. You also get to use the shared facilities: a tennis court, a Finnish barbecue hut, and a hot tub.

There's a spa on site too. You have to book and pay extra for treatments, but you can use the steam rooms, saunas and that outdoor wood-fired tub as part of your stay. It's a proper set-up.

For walks, you're right on the Trans Pennine Trail. It's all farmland and reservoirs round here. You can take dogs, up to two. The property listing says it's a mile and a half to the nearest shop and pub. There's a restaurant about half a mile away.

If you want to drive out, Holmfirth is close. Bakewell and Chatsworth are within half an hour. Buxton isn't much further. Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester are all about forty minutes if you need a city.

Inside, it's got what you'd expect: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right there.
